The sandwich man. A greek experience in Cordoba

For those of you who have never been in Cordoba. This tiny little place is part of Andalucia, in the south of Spain. The one day known as the caliphate of Cordoba is famous today by the incredible mosque, the roman bridge, and the cheap landlords.

The greek experience began when I tried to find a place to rent. After I saw a couple of apartments I decided to move in one that didn´t look so bad. A huge desk,  an amazing wardrobe and an apparently nice big size bedroom (big time). You know. Not great, not bad. So I took all my stuff after I saw the apartment.

My first evening was really nice. I had a pretty cool greek roomates and I was happy about it. Then the sun fell down and I went to bed. Remember that huge bed? Ok I would like to give a simple tip to everybody (at least if you are planning to rent an apartment here). CHECK OUT YOUR BED. Actually check out everything, even those things you can not see at first sight.

So after I put my back on the mattress I felt that something was just wrong. There was a gap (actually a huge line) in the middle of it. I moved the mattress to see what was going on and... yes it was not a bed, it was an open sofa. I wouldn´t mind it so much but the fact that everytime I moved to one side of the bed, the other part came over me, making me feel like a sandwich man, changed my mind ( I did care about it).

After I called the landlord requiring a bed as it said in the contract (in a very polite way), he told me that it was not possible to fit a bed inside the room (So how did he put the doble size sofa in the first place? I´m still asking myself) Well, after I argueed that it was in the contract, he said he must talk to his daughter because she was in charge of that.

Guess what? Yes, I had the pleasure to meet his daugther (well, by phone). A really polite and quite girl (for those of you who are not familiar with sarcasm, this is an example) who explained to me that what I was requesting it was just an stupid semantic problem and she was not going to waste her time, because the difference between a sofa-bed and a bed was just that, a semantic problem (Yeahhhhhhhhh... no. Well maybe you should try to put your most valuable and expensive dishes in the washwer machine and see what happens. At least it washes).

So of course after that I decided to move out and thank God I hadn´t signed a contract yet.

There is a proverb here: "Another people will come and they will make me look better". And that is exactly what happened. I moved to another place and it was even worse than the first one but that is another story.
